Scroll down to read my interview with Durban based blogger, Victoria de Costa. She shares her love for photography, tea, and one of my personal favourites…good food:-)
Tell me a bit about yourself and your blog?
My name is Victoria de Costa, I am 23 years old and I live in Durban, South Africa. I enjoy blogging, photography, writing poetry, reading, and meeting new people. I am an avid tea drinker, and I love food. My blog is lifestyle themed and is a reflection of my interests to writing and my life journey.
What inspired you to start your blog, and when did you know it was something you wanted to do?
I have always had a love for writing and sharing my thoughts on paper. Then one day, I came across a blog that I thought was really interesting to me and here we are-two years into blogging and I am enjoying it so far.
What made you choose the name Unveiling Victoria for your blog?
I chose the name Unveiling Victoria because, I am basically putting the pieces of myself back together and I am a woman who is trying to love herself and the parts of herself that no one claps for. I am busy becoming the woman I aspire to be and showing that on my blog.
Who takes the majority of your photos?
The love I have for photography inspires me to take all of my blog & Instagram photos myself.
How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
It is my love for writing, designing, and sharing that keeps me motivated. I am always in-front of my laptop creating blog header images, social media posts. My blog is my creative outlet.
What makes you happy?
Goodness, what makes me happy? There are many things actually, but to mention a few. Being able to create, meeting new people, tea, exploring new places, sunrises, being able to laugh at myself is one of my greatest joys in my life.
What is your current beauty routine, and name a few products you can’t live without?
My beauty routine is a little bit on the complicated side. I have oily skin, so I have to wash my face twice in the mornings and evenings. I have to apply face cream twice as well, just to get my skin under control. I am currently loving the Neutrogena range of skincare products. I can’t live without my anti-aging cream form Loreal either. I am not always wearing make-up, so I love the Garnier BB Cream. It just covers what it has to cover, and I’m happy. Lastly, I am trying to drink the required amount of water a day, to keep my skin looking healthy and have that natural glow.
How would you describe your personal style?
Classy, sophisticated, and comfortable. I love stiletto heels, paired with skinny jeans, a blazer, a big pair of sunnies, rings and bracelets, and my iconic Hermès handbag. It’s my go-to outfit for a quick meeting, lunch or dinner. If I have an event to go to, then I dress to the 9s.
What are the first items you gravitate toward when shopping?
SHOES and BAGS! I am a shoe and bag hoarder. I am always buying heels and new bags.
When you are not blogging, what do you do to relax?
Sit on the couch or outside with a good book and a cup of tea. Going for walks around the neighborhood, allowing myself to let nature in and admire how beautiful the place we live in is.
What is your favourite food and dessert?
Pasta is my ultimate favorite go-to food. I also love sushi. I have a sweet tooth, so anything chocolate, is my favorite.
What are you reading right now?
Love Your Body by Talia Fuhrman. It is a revelation.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to others just getting started in the world of blogging?
BE YOURSELF. Write what you want to write about. Don’t follow trends and what other bloggers are doing. Write what you enjoy and spark your interests. The blogging community is not a place to blend in with other bloggers. It’s a place where you must stand out and show your personality and individuality through your writing. It is your blog after all. So be yourself, love what you write about, love to create new things and just have a good time.
